Practicing Good Oral Care

At our general & cosmetic dentistry practice, Pineview Aesthetic & Family Dentistry, we teach our patients appropriate oral hygiene practices so that they can achieve and maintain good dental and oral health. Our leading Bellevue dentist Dr. Stahl has an excellent relationship with patients and devotes to teaching them about proper dental hygiene. We reinforce that excellent dental care begins with brushing your teeth a minimum of three times daily and flossing once. Our specialists also recommend adding mouthwash to your brushing routine to assist in fighting mouth germs including bacteria and plaque. We recommend starting good dental hygiene routines early. Kids should be taught how to take care of their oral health to prevent cavities especially from sugary foods and drinks that they ingest. As professionals, we know that if children maintain good dental hygiene routines when they are young, they will always have strong, functional and appealing teeth and smile since they will maintain the same routine for life.

The Importance of Regular Check-Ups

Our dental practice encourages patients to schedule routine check-ups. During your routine visit, one of our dental specialist will thoroughly examine your oral health and determine if you have any existing or potential oral problems. Our dental hygienist will also clean your teeth to remove all the plaque and bacteria that is residing in your mouth to prevent cavities or gingivitis. We recommend that you see your dentist every six months so as to maintain good dental hygiene.

Choosing the Right Toothbrush and Toothpaste

Among the questions our patients always have for us is how to choose the right tooth brush and tooth paste. We recommend choosing a tooth brush with soft bristles because medium and hard bristles can scrape the enamel off your teeth leaving your teeth more sensitive and more vulnerable to dental cavities. A soft bristled tooth brush will keep your mouth clean while effectively removing the plaque and germs from your teeth’s surface. In choosing a toothpaste, we recommend you check the label to see that it has anti-cavity and gingivitis fighting ingredients to help keep your teeth and gums healthy.
