CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics or CEramic REConstruction) is an innovative, time-saving method for reconstructing tooth restorations in a single dental appointment. Our dentists use CAD and CAM software and 3D photography to efficiently produce replacements that will be inserted when ready. This computer-aided tooth replacement option does away with multiple visits, thus making your treatment easier, faster and convenient compared to other previous replacement options.

The majority of teeth replacement dental approaches will require you to make more than one visit to the dentist to complete your treatment. The initial visit normally involves the administration of pain relief medications, teeth preparation, taking accurate images, and fitting temporary replacements while you wait for the final replacements. The dentist will have to schedule another visit a few weeks after the initial visit to remove the temporary fittings and install the custom-made, permanent replacements. But, now you can save time with CEREC because you only need one visit to fit our replacements. Here at Pineview Aesthetic and Family Dentistry, we will use strong, tooth-colored ceramic materials to restore your teeth to their natural strength, beauty, and function in your single visit!

Materials used for CEREC resemble natural tooth enamel with regard to shading, strength and abrasion resistance. For instance, when you ingest hot or cold drinks and foods, the replacement and tooth will expand and contract at almost equivalent rates. Therefore, your tooth will not end up cracking and breaking as can frequently happen with other fillings. The replacement is adhesively bonded to your tooth, which helps us to save as much healthy structures as possible while providing you with a dental replacement that strengthens your tooth.

We begin the process by taking dental images and creating a three-dimensional digital model of your cavity. Once the two components are ready, we begin the design stage which involves using CEREC software and biogeneric comparisons of adjoining teeth to estimate and generate your restoration’s shape. Once complete, we send the information through the wireless router to the CEREC dental milling unit, which will create your replacement from a solid block of porcelain ceramic. We will use resin cement to bond your new replacement to your tooth.
